The Intelvese Stucco and Scagliola Museum in Cerano d'Intelvi (Como) is set up in a wing (1608) of the Perlasca-Pinchetti Palace (16th century), now owned by the Spalla-Gandola family, was established in 1989, after the experiences of don Nicola Cetti and of the Regional School of Scagliola Intelvese of Ossuccio.
The Museum contains the Spalla-Gandola collections of stucco and scagliola, which are evidence of the well-known Intelvese artistic tradition.
This is the only Museum on the specific sector, known throughout Italy and abroad, and which maintains, collects and disseminates studies on stucco and scagliola.
Exhibition itinerary and works
The museum itinerary documents the history and tradition of stucco and scagliola in three exhibition sections.
Section I - Photographic and documentary exhibition
The section hosts the photographic and documentary exhibition on the works of Intelvese plasterers and scagliolia workers in Austria between the 17th and 18th centuries.
Section II - Education
In the section instruments, dyes and stones necessary are exposed for the building of the scagliola that belonged to Intelvesi craftsmen. The evolution of this technique can be observed. You’ll see:
- Portraits of the most famous artists and scagliola workers, such as:
- Copies of 17th century works
- Instructional panels on scagliolia workers and their production between the 17th and 18th centuries
Section III
The section presents various examples of scagliola and modern plastic stucco:
